WayMaker cattery is a TICA and CFA registered passionate hobbiest specializing in the preservation of the unique Oriental Shorthair Cat & Siamese breed. 

All of our breeding cats conform to the breed standard with no serious or disqualifying faults. We actively show and attend various cat events throughout the year.  Our cats are structurally sound, well-tempered, and easily handled. Each cat undergoes comprehensive DNA health screening through Wisdom Panel, which tests for over 40 common genetic conditions that may affect the breed. We also have a strong Relationship with our vet, who is available as a reference. 

We prioritize genetic diversity, health and temperament.   Our breeding cats must not exhibit any signs of allergies or require special diets beyond a high-quality, breed appropriate food.   They must embody correct breed type, display natural curiosity, and possess a gentle temperament that makes them trustworthy - even around our young grandchildren.  

Our breeding cats have been carefully selected from long-standing, reputable breeders and lines, who have preserved and refined the breed over the past 30+ years. We maintain close relationships with these mentors (both in the US and overseas) and consult with them before making breeding decisions to ensure our pairings support the health, structure, and integrity of the breed.  

Our program is not focused on producing kittens for the sake of quantity. Rather, our mission is to preserve and improve the breed with every generation - maintaining the qualities we love while striving for excellence in health, type, and temperament. 

Kittens from WayMaker are placed into their new homes typically around 16 weeks of age. By this time, they have received complete veterinary care, including four examinations by a licensed DVM, with thorough physical assessments and all core kitten vaccines, along with rabies. All kittens are placed with our genetic health replacement guarantee, covering hereditary conditions.

All of our kittens are raised in a loving family environment. They are handled daily, well-socialized with adults, children, accustomed to household life, our indoor dogs, and prepared to join their new families as confident and healthy companions.

While you may find kittens available at a lower cost, we encourage prospective families to do their due diligence. Investing in a kitten from a responsible, actively involved, ethical breeder ensures not only the health and wellbeing of your new companion; but peace of mind for years to come.

As a responsible and ethical breeder, we maintain a waiting list to ensure each kitten is thoughtfully matched with the right home. Many families come to us with specific preferences—such as gender, color, coat pattern, personality traits, or even show or breeding potential. These attributes can vary greatly from litter to litter, and not every kitten will meet every home’s needs.

Because we prioritize health, temperament, and quality, we do not mass produce kittens or compromise our standards just to meet demand. Instead, we plan our litters carefully and raise each kitten in a nurturing, home-based environment. This means availability is naturally limited.

A waiting list allows us to work closely with families to understand exactly what they’re looking for and to keep them informed when a kitten becomes available that matches their preferences. It also allows us to maintain a responsible breeding program, with a focus on the long-term health and wellbeing of both our kittens and the breed as a whole.

While we maintain a waiting list for our kittens, we do not take money deposits until kittens are approximately 6 weeks of age, after their first veterinarian visit.
